GP Assen 2008

The circuit in Dutch Assen welcomed the teams traditionally – with the unstable weather. Relatively cold, occasional rain and so very complicated motorcycle settings… As traditionally, Thursday’s qualifying didn’t end up well for Kája. The 18th rank didn’t put anybody in positive mood. The prognosis for Friday wasn’t the best. “I made a tactical mistake again. The first half of qualifying was good, but I couldn’t get back to pace after the change of tyres… I have big problems with it and I feel bad about it. After the compulsory break I can’t concentrate myself and improve the time from the first half.” Friday was even more unlucky. During the morning training Abaja fell down at the speed of 240 km/h. Fortunately he ended up without injury, but with a great concussion. He stayed in a mobile clinic for observation and he wasn’t allowed to start in the afternoon qualifying. “I caught on Alvaro Bautista. He rode well so I could reach a good time with him. However in the bend I was scattered a little by the gust of wind so I slacked up… and suddenly I was on the ground…” Everything was ready for start on Saturday morning. However the doctors ordered Abaja a compulsory check-up. The result was the fact that he wasn’t allowed to start… So see you in German Sachsenring!
