Karel Abraham fought for the first 3 places, he was missing eight tenths of a second
The weather has changed at Sachsenring on Sunday. It got significantly colder and it even started rain in the morning. But the race went on dry track. Karel Abraham, who started from the third row, managed a sharp fight in the first corner perfectly and then he went into the prosecution of the top ten. In the middle of the race he was moving on the seventh place and then he took even the fourth place. At that moment, he had lost six seconds of the third Hungarian Talmacsi, but it still remained six laps to the goal. But on the tires had been aware that they are started to slide. Still, Karel embarked on a pursuit race with the seasoned racers Italian Rolf and Spaniard Nieto. This trio caught up and overtook Talmacsi, but Karel did not accelerate the pace in the end, unlike Rolf Nieto. He remained in contact with them, but it was not for overtaking. He passed the aim as fifth, it was for the third time in a row in the top ten. Overall, he is currently on 14th place after the first part of championship. Class Moto2 together with 125cc has four weeks of holiday now, which ends on 15th August in Brno, GP of Czech Republic. There is still one more race for "Royal class" - MotoGP in America (Laguna Seca).
Karel Abraham said after the race:
"I'm glad I finally broke the unlucky times on Sachsenring and got there first world points. I rode a good race, I'm happy, but "top three" was really close this time and the end of the race is a bit annoying. But the tires slided and I could only keep pace with Rolf Nieto, trying to overtake- it would be too risky. Otherwise, the start of the race was very hard again and I was glad I could stand it. Then I waited for the blow a bit and I was able to ride „my times“. Gradually, I overtook a rivals, and eventually I had to reach the podium very close. Perhaps it even comes out this year. And if it succeeded in Brno, it would be great, but in so full class, such as Moto2 is, every race is different. At home, I will definitely do the maximum for that. But now I look forward to a short vacation. I'm going to look at the MotoGP at Laguna Seca. I'll be back on racing Circuit in Brno at the end of July on the WTCC.
