On Sunday, Karel Abraham rode fast times again despite the fall he had.
The weather is not very good for riders in the final preparations for start of the World Motorcycle Championship, which will be 11th April in Qatar. There was raining in Jerez on Saturday and the track was not dry until the afternoon. Cloudy and rainy weather was also on Sunday, but the riders still managed to do more laps of testing. While Karel Abraham rode nine laps during the first day, he rode fourty free on the second day. Unfortunately, he had a fall which seemed very dangerously. Even it was not his own fault, it was the first fall in this stage of preparation and Karel escaped without injury. At the end of the day, he could completed thirteen rounds because of a great work of his mechanics. He had the 13th best time on Saturday and he ranked on 25th place with a time 1:46,900 on Sunday.
Karel Abraham said after Sunday's test:
"I baptised my motorcycle for the first time, but I could not do anything about it. I overtook Webb with 125cc from the outside in turn, and he suddenly turned and pushed me out of the ideal track. Unfortunately the track was still damp there and my front wheel slided. It was nothing pleasant to fall in the speed of 180 km per hour, but the most important thing is that I stayed alright. Motorcycle flew on asfalt of course and the engine cover has scratched very much, so the oil oozed out on the track. It happened out of the ideal track, so the testing proceeded without big interruption. From my perspective, it was a great shame for me because I had the sixth best time and I rode really good at that moment. After the fall, it seemed to me for a while that I ended with testing on Sunday. At once the contractor of Honda 600 engines did not know what to do. He hovered whether to begin repair or give us a new engine. Finally we got a new engine and the mechanics managed to exchange it in an hour and a half. They were really perfect. My best time today was not ok because while opponents had time to accelerate - I had to wait for a motorcycle. I returned to the circuit for the last half of hour and I rode only about three tenth behind my best time today. That pleased me. I was a little worried about how I will feel after such a fall. I believe I will fix my taste on Monday "said Karel Abraham.
Second IRTA test at Jerez will end on Monday.
