Acceleration almost half of second is enough for eighteenth to position

Karel Abraham holds eighteenth position before Saturday qualifying practice of Grand Prix in Qatar. Although Karel completed team plans to get half a second down from Thursday´s lap time, today´s result wasn´t enough competitive to move up in the standing. Cardion AB team focused more on bike setting than on the final lap time today. This allowed the team to save more soft tyres for Saturday program and this could be Karel´s advantage in the fight for grid position.

Third practice was characterized by very balanced results when ten fastest riders were crowded in the only one second behind the fastest Aleix Espargaro. Karel Abraham loses 2,572 to the fastest Spaniard.

Karel Abraham

„From my point of view, the early practice was better and I´m not very satisfied by our result from third practice. The bike was missing the grip on both wheels and I was forced to make one extra stop in garage to try to solve this problem. But it´s still not perfect. At the end of the practice session I went on the soft tyre but I made just one lap and I could not improve time. I still have doubts about soft tyres and honestly I don’t know if it is that what we need. Anyway we use them carefully to keep fresh ones for qualifying practice and for the race. The shoulder is more sensitive and painful compared to yesterday but still much more better than during tests.“

Marco Grana, chief mechanic Cardion AB Motoracing

„Today´s was fifty-fifty positive as same as negative. The good new is that shoulder does not cause problem to Karel and our perspectives for good result are higher. During Friday practices we focused more on setting the bike than on the final lap time. Thanks to this we were able to save more soft tyres for the weekend. We used only two tyres, while the other riders used three or four. And this could be our advantage. We are trying to improve grip on both wheels, but we didn´t make such progress as we hope on Thursday. Thus there is a lot of work ahead of us tomorrow and we must do it in just half of hour. However we believe that we can get close to the limit of 1:56.“
