Racing weekend in Imola

“The first race was not a good race. I’ve quickly got more of a feel for the track after not much running yesterday, but I didn’t feel comfortable with the setup. In Superpole the bike felt OK and I maintained my pace, but we’ve had similar electronics problems to what we had in Assen and Free Practice again, and I didn’t feel that I could push 100% on the bike in Superpole or the race. Unfortunately we had electronics problems during the race 2. I had a good feeling going into the race and I felt confident in the bike, but when I got to the grid the engine was not revving as it should. I had some wheelie and sliding problems at the start, and I couldn’t attack the corners. I got to turn 18 and as soon as I opened the throttle I had a high side and crashed. It really surprised me, and when we looked at the data after the race we saw that there were a few electronic problems that caused it. It was really a shame to have similar problems all weekend, and I hope we can finally fix them for the next race. I’m familiar with the track at Malaysia, and some of the corners have been resurfaced which I will have to learn. I’m aiming to do everything I can to give my best performance and to get some more points there, and hopefully the bike will work well for us.”
